10 WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT PRAYER
- It is an Invite: See Colossians 4:2 — “2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;” (KJV), 1 Thessalonians 5:17 — “2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;” (KJV). It is an invite that comes with an air of authority. So, it is what must be done by every believer. It is a lifestyle we must continually live.
- It is a way of Building Relationship: Just as you need to maintain communication with your partner to keep your relationship is the same way prayer is seen as a means of communication that gets you closer to God, helps you know Him more and open you up to a different dimension of Him. So how do you know your partner if you refuse to pray?Galatians 4:6 — “6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.” (KJV)
- It is a way to Overcome Satan: See Luke 22:31-32 — “31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” (KJV). If you don’t know how to pray, you can’t be an overcomer, all you’d be is a prey and you’d keep falling into one temptation or the other.
- It is a way to Gain Strength: See Jude 1:20 — “20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” (KJV). Whenever you’re weak, tired, frustrated and without hope, just go to the place of prayer. You’d be amazed at how refreshed you’d be.
- It can Save Us: See Luke 18:13-14 — “13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” (KJV). We can not help or deliver ourselves. Only prayer can do that for us. Hence, before you give up or write off yourself, pray about it and watch how mercy speaks for you.
- It Helps us to resist Temptation: See Matthew 26:41 — “41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (KJV). When you pray, you’re kept safe and your weakness is helped.
- It makes Impossibility Possible: See Matthew 21:22 — “22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (KJV), Mark 9:32 — “32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.” (KJV). Some doors might not open, situations might tarry, opportunities might never come, etc until you pray about them.
- it reduces Stress: There is no best stress reliever other than prayer. Just charge your atmosphere with a worship song, start slowly by speaking in tongues with all intentionality, it won’t take long for you to get connected and lost in worship.
- It helps us to know God’s will: See 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 — “9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” (KJV). Some things about your future, purpose, family, past, etc can only be revealed at the place of prayer. However, if you don’t pray, you’d only be playing a game of chance and probability.
- It is in honour to God: When we pray, we are honouring God for who He is, His faithfulness, etc (Revelation 8:3-4 — “3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.” (KJV))
