It Can’t Be Found Elsewhere!

Oops! Do you think it can be found elsewhere? Or do you think it can be found in music, food, money, applause, etc? Oh, No! It can’t. Those are fleeting.

What am I saying? Last month, I came across a bingo survey where people were asked what makes them happy and a lot of people started ticking “cooking, music, celebrities, eating, social media, etc.” I couldn’t help but ask myself “How?”

What happens when all of those things are taken away from you or you don’t have access to them? Would you then be sad or depressed? You can only be Happy in God. Seeking happiness outside Him will cost you so much, it’ll never last nor will it satisfy you because it’s only Him that can satisfy you.

Psalm 144:15 — “15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.” (KJV), Philippians 4:4 — “4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” (KJV)

WAYS TO FIND HAPPINESS IN GOD
In His Presence

Psalms 16:11 — “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.” (KJV)

There is this joy that comes from His presence. Going before Him, pouring out all of your hearts, singing worship and dancing in praise. You might go before Him with a burden upon your heart, but it’ll be lifted as you arise, knowing fully well that you’ve been answered.

Gathering of the Brethren

This is most beautiful when you’ve got a good place of worship and you’re serving as a worker in His vineyard. I often say to people that Wednesday is my favourite day of the week and the beautiful memories I have which will be missed when I graduate from the Campus are those made in the times I spent at the fellowship and moments I spent with those executives I served with.

You’ll be loved like a family, accepted and the energy is always unmatched. So it helps you to keep going, knowing that you aren’t alone.

From the Holy Spirit

Galatians 5:22,25 — “22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,… 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (KJV).

Joy/Happiness is a fruit of the Spirit. It can only find expression when you let the Holy Spirit have His way within you.

Answered Prayers

Delayed answered prayers can make one disheartened, however, there is this Joy in knowing fully well that your requests and expectations have been met.

Live Righteously

Philippians 4:8 — “8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (KJV)

This might be difficult to believe, however, since we’ve been called to righteousness, we must live righteously. The joy, therefore, comes when you begin to reflect on how the day was spent then you realize you successfully lived the day without lying or doing what is against His will that might distance you from Him.

Trusting God

Psalms 40:4 — “4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.” (KJV)

I’ve learnt to put my trust in God because it doesn’t waver. Putting your trust in God will save you from the disappointments of men that can break your heart.

Praying For & With Others

These past weeks, I’ve been doing more praying with people that I care about and no doubt, I feel fulfilled after doing that, so it does help. Also, interceding on behalf of others in your secret place.

Be surrounded by Good People

It pays to have good people around you. Together, you can encourage, grow and love one another. However, it must be people you love and care about, people who love and care about one another without judgement.

Discard Worries

Philippians 4:6-7 — “6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (KJV)

Worry does nothing, but sap your happiness. Instead of worrying, pray and wait on the Lord.

Other ways include;

  • Serving humanity,
  • Helping the needy,
  • Speaking the truth in love,
  • Standing for truth,
  • Be contented,
  • Let go of the Past,
  • Love God wholeheartedly, etc.
CONCLUSION

Those ways listed above are not fleeting. All you need to do is constantly find yourself committed to it and you’ll find fulfilment from it. You’ll have no regret trying them out. Hence, I hope today you’d stop seeking Happiness from temporal things and get connected to the true source of happiness. In Jesus Name, Amen.
