Genesis 35:1-7 — “Then God said to Jacob, “Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.” 2 So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes. 3 Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.” 4 So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem. 5 Then they set out, and the terror of God fell on the towns all around them so that no one pursued them. 6 Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan. 7 There he built an altar, and he called the place El Bethel, because it was there that God revealed himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother.” (NIV)
Genesis 8:20 — “20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.” (NIV)
- We want to better understand what altars are; from a Biblical standpoint.

- An Altar is a place, a platform or system where the Spirit realm makes contact with the physical realm on legal grounds (Luke 1:10-11 — “10 And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside. 11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.” (NIV))
- It is a platform for the authorization of laws and the authorization of spirits to function upon the earth.
- It is a platform where covenants are activated and maintained
- Altars can be physical monuments, altars can be institutions, it can be men or non-material platforms.
- The major assignments of an altar is to give authorization and continuity to any spiritual activity on earth whether Godly or demonic.
- You can know the presence of an altar in any life, any family and in any region by the consistency of patterns and occurrences whether good or bad.
All kinds of wrong addiction ad negative patterns are powered by altars:- Diseases, Sexual Perversions, Depression and Mental Illnesses, Witchcraft and Idol Worship, Stagnation and Delays, Near success syndrome, Barrenness and Short-lived success, etcetera. You can also partake of altars by association, whether good or bad. ALTARS DO NOT KNOW TIME.
HOW ALTARS WORK- HOW TO MAINTAIN AND PULL THEM DOWN
- All satanic altars are powered by one major altar – the altar of sin and impurity; PERSONAL SIN (1 John 1:8), TERRITORIAL SIN (Genesis 18:20 — “20 Then the Lord said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous” (NIV), Jonah 1:1-3) and SINS BASED ON FOUNDATIONS AND BLOODLINES (Psalm 11:3 — “3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”” (NIV), Exodus 34:6-14)
- All Godly Altars are powered by one major altar. THE THRONE OF GRACE ALONG WITH THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB, the Throne of Grace powers the altar of favour, the altars of prayer and so on.
Today, we do not raise altars by erecting physical structures and monuments necessarily. To know how to erect structures that work, we must study Elijah- the Tishbite. (1 Kings 18:19-39— “…30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down. 31 Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.” 32 With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs of seed. 33 He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.”…” (NIV)). An connection to the altar in Christ Jesus can be formed when the following are present.
- Repentance and Brokenness
- The Word of God; on what guarantee are you standing.
- Sacrifice. (You – Romans 12:1, Your praise and worship – Hebrews 13:15, Your Prayer – Leviticus 6:13, Seed-giving)
- Prophetic decrees and blessings.
Every altar, every gathering, every system and structure that has being erected to stand against you and to cause life to be unproductive and full of sorrow in your life and in the life of your family and friends by extension, We pray that in the Name of Jesus- that Name that is above every other name, It is pulled down, You are set free and set loose.
