Teach us to Pray Part 2 By Apostle Joshua Selman —a summary
Believers are built when they understand and use the Word of God. The Power of God is to defend and to validate our faith- Water to wine. “After this manner, pray”, not necessarily a particular recitation.
Matthew 6:9 — “9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” (KJV)
Our Father… (ABBA)
The prayer that produces results will come first from an understanding of who we are praying to. (Romans 8:15 — “15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” (KJV), Matthew 7:11). We must come to God understanding that He is the Source of All Things and not an Option. Whatever God cannot give me, man cannot give me. Approach God as touching His Goodness and Fatherhood. (Hebrews 4:16). That even when we are wrong, we run towards God. He is Our Father. The Love and the Fatherhood of God is a Key Revelation that the Saints must have. One of the major characteristics of Fathers is giving, if our Father freely gave us His Son Jesus, then what can He not give us.
…who hath in Heaven… (FAITH)
This means approach God through faith, because God is in a Dimension that is not here (Hebrews 6:6). There is a level of empowerment that comes when we don’t see but yet believe (John 20:29 — “15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” (KJV). The most powerful state of a Believer is when He believes without seeing. Faith on the integrity of God’s Word. God’s Word is the highest authority. The signs “follow…” they don’t go before. You must first believe. Feelings are not what the Bible tells us to use to understand spiritual things, but rather the Word of God. All other experiences are just confluences to help us. When we pray with a loud voice it, it doesn’t mean unbelieve, even Jesus cried out to His Father with a loud voice on the Cross.
…hallowed be thy Name… (REVERENCE)
Although God is our Father, we must never overlook the eternal fact that He is still God of All (1 Samuel 2:30, Hebrews 4:16 — “16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (KJV)). Boldness is not stupidity- our boldness must never be to dishonouring God. Jesus continued to project the Fatherhood of God. Walking in Love will make it hard to differentiate between Father and Son. It is therefore the Son’s duty to point towards the Fatherhood of His Father, as a way of honour. No matter how used to greatness we get, we must not dishonour it. Never give people access beyond a level of communicating honour. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path. Your immunity is always because of your partnership with God.
…Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven… (PRIORITY)
Just because God is touched by the feelings of our infirmities, doesn’t mean He will move in that way. Only God’s Word can cause Him to take action, God moves on the impulses of His Word. Bring your strong reasons… Consider the things of the Kingdom as priority first and its righteousness and every other thing shall be given unto you. Seek God’s Kingdom first. It is true Faith to put others needs before ours. That I may decrease and He may increase. Remember the Shunamite Woman, you can not out-give God. In terms of request, God’s will and intent has a higher priority. God’s Heart first. When God doesn’t bring results yet, check it, check the content of your prayers, does it have any trait of “Kingdom come, thy will be done..”? Praying voluminously and extensively is not an indication of praying correctly.
…give us this day our daily bread (YOUR NEEDS MET)
You don’t demand daily bread in isolation. It must be inline with serving God’s purposes. You can step in into prepared blessings, not flour, not seed, just daily bread. If you ever desire prosperity in isolation of God’s purposes, you are already walking in error. The blessings of God are not useful in isolation. It must be in accordance with God’s will and thy Kingdom Come. God is a Giver and He gives Bread daily.
…and Forgive us our debt, as we also have forgiven our debtors (FORGIVENESS- A SIGN OF HUMILITY)
God knows we are frail by and large. Man is dust (Psalm 103:13-14 — “13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. 14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.” (KJV)).From the parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18:21-35, we learn a few things: We must be tolerable people knowing that Men are as frail as we also are. Only Jesus is a sure Anchor. We can’t bind others with unforgiveness and think we will move, we will also be bound. Forgiveness is a kind of giving. We must walk in compassion, even as God has had compassion on us. It is the day you will need compassion that your will see the need for compassion.
May the Lord grant us all good understanding of Prayer in Jesus Name. God bless you all. Please comment and Share. stay blessed.
